The September 11, 2001 attacks often referred to as 9/11—pronounced "nine eleven") consisted of highly coordinated terrorism. The September 11 attacks were described by the United Nations Security Council as "horrifying terrorist attacks"; Security Council Condemns, 'In Strongest Terms' Terrorist Attacks on the United States, [1] by Islamic extremists on The United States.[2]
