Thought Adjuster: “What is Self-Mastery? It is mastery over all lower emotional states. A Master exudes peace and self-confidence. You look up to him or her in your times of tribulation as you would search for a lighthouse in the midst of a frightening storm. How would they act? Surely, you don’t expect them to run scared. Rather, their peaceful composure in the midst of external upheavals reassures you and appeases your own emotional anguish.
“A Master deals with the very same circumstances as you do. Yet, from your perspective, it seems effortless on his or her part. Therefore, you can deduce that self-mastery is what makes all the difference in the world. By mastering your emotions, you stay grounded in the Peace that surpasses all understanding. Indeed, it may be mind-boggling to those who are tossed around by unexpected developments.
“As you gain in fortitude and resilience through your challenging earthly experiences, you will notice that certain occurrences that were overwhelming you in the past, no longer do so. It is not that their content changed, it is that YOU changed and are now addressing them with greater skills and an invincible can-do spirit.
“As you become more serene, you no longer allow yourself to be destabilized by what comes out of the blind corner of your life. Rather, your spiritual reflexes are so improved that you can ward off the negative emotional charges that would weigh you down should you be caught unaware.

“Self-Mastery does not happen overnight. It happens over time. It requires constant practice. Yet the moment will come when you will be stronger than what life throws at you. You will have become a Pro — a Master. You will have tamed your unruly small ego and have become in touch with the greatness and stability of your Higher Self.”
