Opening

I would speak tonight on “The Gift of Seeing”, which goes far beyond the gift of sight.

Lesson

Sight is a splendid thing – I mean, look around! – but do you see? Do you see what stands in your line of sight and can you see when you are invited to see? To truly “See” is to understand with an interior sight. There is the familiar response, “Yes, I see”, meaning “Yes, I understand”. That ‘seeing’ is not so much Understanding as a superficial comprehension, a momentary recognition of the components at play and how they work. But the Gift of Seeing is almost a second sight – I hesitate to use the modifier ‘almost’ – it is a second sight as the sixth sense is an actual sense. It has to do with the inner eye - an extension of the all-encompassing Oneness whose evidence you seek. Well, one can apprehend the flavor, the atmosphere of this Oneness through the gift of this particular Seeing; a Seeing that is a combination of eye, mind, heart, and soul.

The Gift of Seeing is a gift that can be cultivated, worked on, practiced, developed. Its origin is within as it relates to – as it relates through – what it encounters in the material world. There is a creative wave that manifests as Creation and it has a counterpart within each of the individuals who behold it. That counterpart is the Gift of Seeing – it is part and parcel of the Creation as a unit. The duckling recognizes its mother no matter how many mama ducks are in the vicinity. The butterflies know when to migrate, the bears when to hibernate. So this interior sight recognizes that bolt of Creation that created it as well as that upon which it gazes. The Gift of Seeing is a gift of the ages, for the ages, for it recognizes the fellow frequency of the Father of Ages.

Sight is a precious gift but it can be replaced by the other senses if necessary. When eyesight fails, hearing will step in to take up the slack. The law of compensation is quick to apply itself (though it may take the mechanism of time to fully function as a worthy substitute). However, even the blind, though sightless, are anointed with the Gift of Seeing. It, being one with the gift of Creation, is available to all.

Closing

Sit quietly. Close your eyes, and exercise - for the good of all mankind - the Gift of Seeing.
