Autocrats and dictators here, autocrats and dictators there
power-mongers just about fuckin' everywhere
Bullies on the playground, all around the town,
Wisconsin to north Africa--everywhere they're found
Petty dictators in your office, just like in D.C.
watch em spin their lies in memos, or on your tv
Time now to end the power-mongers' rule
whether in your nation, workplace, or at school
People on the rise ain't takin' no more lies
hold on, hold on, keep your eyes on the prize!
Power hungry suits makin' all the people frown
The time is now my friend, time to pull em down!
Tax breaks for the rich, less money for the poor
close those corporate loopholes--don't take it anymore!
Waring, nuking, & oil spillin'--we gotta stop all that,
Hey, you! Stop wreckin' the world!--Just cut the crap!
Time to wake up from this state-sponsored bad dream
Let's all open up our windows and start to scream:
"We're mad as hell and ain't goin' to take it anymore"!
We be knock, knock, knockin' on oppression's door!
Freedom (!) from tyranny is what we say
Peace, love, and justice can't wait another day!
The way its been we just can't stand
gotta join together wherever we can
You used to hide across the miles, behind big smiles
but we're all one world-wide web of rank & files
We can see you now, playin' all your sick games,
your time is up--and it ain't never gonna be the same!
We gotta use all our funkin' spunk
to make em someday cry out "unc"
"Power to the people"--some of us used to say,
We gonna lose it--or use it--to make a better day?
Amp up your voice (!) and act together locally
start it here and now & end corruption globally
Heed the call--there's no time to wait,
we got the power now--it ain't too late!
Unite we can, unite we will--cause we've all had our fill,
one for all & all for one, until the power-brokers number nil!
Time to end this darkness and its world-wide blight,
come on children of light--time to fight together for the right!
